Gianni Chianetta is CEO at Global Solar Council and Chairman of the Greening the Islands Foundation, Vice-president at the Global Renewables Alliance and member of the Steering Committee of the Global Alliance for Sustainable Energy as well as Chairman of Worldwide Carbon Price.

He has been working in the energy sector since 2003. Previously, he served as managing director at BP Solar Italy and was founder and chairman of the first Italian solar PV industry association for three consecutive terms, leading the PV market from 35 MWp to more than 20 GWp.

He also chaired the National Committee for Solar Energy of the Italian Ministry of the Environment, was member of the Steering Committee of the Coalition for Action of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and member of the Strategy Committee of Solar Power Europe.

Mr Chianetta founded the Global Network of National PV Associations in 2007. This served as the basis for the Global Solar Council for which he was elected Co-Chairman and Chairman before taking on the role of CEO.
