Speaker biography

Pierre Lorillou is Senior Hydropower Specialist at the World Bank. He is in charge of preparing and supervising hydropower and dam projects in Africa and Georgia.

He is also responsible for coordinating the Sustainable Operations and Maintenance for Hydropower (SOMAH) initiative on the World Bank side. In addition, Pierre coordinates the development of a Guidance Note for preparing ad-hoc Operations and Maintenance strategies for hydropower.

Pierre has had 19 years of professional experience in hydropower and water sectors for development. This includes staff positions for EDF, the French Development Agency (AFD) and two engineering companies, contributing to projects in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.

He holds a Master of Engineering in Water management from ENGREF in France, as well as a degree in Economics from the University Lyon II.
