Speaker biography

Nikolaos Efthymiou is a consulting engineer with expertise in hydraulics and river engineering. He has all round experience in hydropower and sediment management studies and has been working as a freelance consultant for the World Bank since 2019. As part of this, he was responsible for the development of the RESCON2 software.

He graduated in Civil Engineering and obtained a master’s degree in Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

During his PhD at the Technical University of Munich he addressed the issue of bedload transport in mountainous rivers. Subsequently, he joined Fichtner Consulting Engineers in Germany, where he was involved in all stages of sediment management studies and in the design of small and large hydropower projects.
