Speaker biography

Mohamad Irwan Aman is the Senior Manager for Sustainability at Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB). He is also a provisionally accredited assessor of Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol (HSAP).

As a pioneer for sustainability at Sarawak Energy, Mohamad’s primary responsibility is to develop and implement sustainability strategies for the organisation. He established the governing structure of HSAP and the creation of an Internal HSAP Assessment Team to drive the integration of the Protocol into Sarawak Energy’s business processes.

His current roles also include the preparation and management of an assessment process, review and communicating of assessment findings as well as the development of an improvement plan and competence development of the internal HSAP assessment team.

Prior to joining Sarawak Energy, Mohamad was a consultant for Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Company, and a Technical Expert for Environmental Engineering for the Malaysian electricity company Tenaga Nasional Berhad. In addition, he has also been engaged as a Technical Advisor for various international and national clean energy projects.

He has had over 21 years of work experience in research & development, environmental impacts assessment, feasibility studies, project financing, due diligence assessment, and audits in the energy and finance sectors.

Mohamed holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering and an MBA in Finance.
