Speaker biography

Meg B Bishwakarma is the General Manager and Technical Advisor at Hydro Lab, a hydraulic and sediment research organisation in Nepal. He started his role in 2005 having been a Research Engineer since 2001.

Before joining Hydro Lab, he had worked for Khimti Hydropower Project as a Design Engineer, later becoming Resident Engineer.

Meg has over 28 years of experience in design, construction supervision and overall management of hydropower projects in Nepal including more than 15 years’ work in intensive research on hydraulic and sediment measurement and management studies. This also includes part-time lecturing and MSc thesis guidance at NTNU in Norway and the Institute of Engineering, TU in Nepal.

Meg is also a former President of Nepal Hydropower Association (NHA) and is now an advisor to them.

He obtained a bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He also received a PhD and MSc Engineering in Hydropower Development from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
