Speaker biography

Linda Church Ciocci is the President and CEO of the National Hydropower Association (NHA). The NHA are the US trade association that represents the interests of the hydropower industry and advocates for policies that ensure the continued flow of hydropower’s benefits to all Americans.

Linda represents the country’s largest renewable energy resource before Congress, key national policymakers, and the media. She is an expert on energy issues, and has served on numerous task forces and boards. She also advises other organisations, including the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), of which she is a founder and serves as an emeritus member of its Board of Directors.

She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) and the Energy and Environment Study Institute (EESI) where she is Vice Chair. She has also served three terms on the US Department of Commerce Federal Advisory Committee on Renewable Energy.

Before joining NHA, Linda was an advocate and official at the American Public Power Association (APPA) as well as other organisations. She has worked on issues ranging from municipal bonds and taxation to economic development and public finance.

Last year, Linda was named one of the 100 all-time most influential people in the global hydropower industry by a major trade publication, the only woman chosen for this distinction. In 2014, she was named a Woman of HydroVision, nominated by industry as one of ten women acknowledged for their leadership and vision.

Most recently, Linda received the industry’s highest honour, The Dr Kenneth Henwood Award at Waterpower Week in Washington this year.  This prestigious individual award recognizes life-time achievement grounded in a commitment and love for the resource together with the courage of leadership and vision.
