Speaker biography

Karimi Francesca Mussi Carpinelli is a Civil Engineer at Itaipu Binacional. She also develops and coordinates projects and lines of applied research at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Dam Safety (CEASB) at the Itaipu Technological Park (PTI).

Karimi has worked at Itaipu Binacional in the civil engineering and architecture division in the technical directorate since 2016. As a specialist in dam safety her principal activities encompass the analysis of Itaipu dam structures’ performance and the study of hydraulics, geotechnics and instrumentation of the dam.

Previously, Karimi worked as a technical advisor in the Paraguayan Ministry of Public Works and Communications.

Karimi gained her Civil Engineer qualification from the National University of Asuncion and went on to specialise in Dam Safety at the Federal University of Bahia.
