Speaker biography

Julien Thureau is head of a team of 20 investment officers based in Washington DC who are in charge of the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) infrastructure investments in Sub Saharan Africa.

He has enjoyed more than 20 years of experience in infrastructure financing, both in emerging markets and western markets, with engagements spanning from debt financing, equity and project development. Throughout his career, he has led teams delivering landmark and often first-of-their-kind transactions in the energy sector.

Julien was previously IFC’s Infrastructure Manager for Europe and Central Asia, based in Istanbul, Turkey. Before joining IFC, he was head of the Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking (SG CIB) infrastructure project finance department from 2007 to 2011. Previously he held various positions in infrastructure project finance within SG CIB and with Paribas.

Julien is a French national and holds an engineering degree from École supérieure d’électricité, commonly known as Supélec.
