Speaker biography

Hordur Arnarson is the CEO and President of Landsvirkjun, Iceland´s national power distributor and producer of 75% of the country’s electricity.

Hordur joined Landsvirkjun in November 2009 due to the great emphasis they put on innovation and value creation. With extensive experience in corporate leadership and a focus on improving profitability and growth, Landsvirkjun aims to continue in strengthening their operations by harnessing renewable energy in a sustainable way.

In his previous employment, Hordur led Marel, a small Icelandic food processing equipment company, to become an undisputed market leader in the area with around 4,000 employees and operations spanning 30 countries.

Hordur has a PhD in Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark as well as a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Iceland.
