Speaker biography

Gilles Feuillade is the Vice President of EDF Hydro in charge of Industry, having been appointed in 2014. He is also Vice President of the Hydrotechnical Society of France (SHF), Vice President of the French Committee of Dams and Reservoirs (CFBR) and Vice President of the Grenoble Institute of Technology.

Gilles began his career at Electricité de France in 1982 and started to work in the hydropower sector in 2005. In 2008, he was appointed Head of the General Technical Division, EDF Hydro’s engineering unit who advise the operators of electricity production systems and the owners of plants on safety and performance issues.

Under his mandate, EDF Hydro has implemented major modernisation projects in France. This can be seen through the Romanche-Gavet project in Isère which has seen the replacement of 6 small plants by one single 94 MW underground plant resulting in an additional annual generation of 155 GWh. Also in the Savoie region, upgrading projects have seen an increase from 550MW to 600 MW in La Bathie and from 320 MW to 384 MW in La Coche.

Throughout his career, Gilles has developed a strong interest for a large amount of topics relating to industrial performance. These include the following: industrial processes, mechanical and electro-technical equipment, civil engineering, expertise and diagnostics, design and implementation, safety and security, investment programs and projects, resources management, and research & development.
