Speaker biography

Frédéric Hofmann is the Development Director of EDF Hydro. He joined EDF Hydro in 2004 and held various management positions within several production units until 2008 when he was appointed into the Optimization and Trading Division of EDF.

Frédéric started his career at the EDF Research and Development Division in 1994. In 2011, he joined and led EDF Hydro East then joined Nam Theun 2 Power Company (NTCP) in Laos as CEO for four years until 2018.

As a company formed by the Laos Government and private shareholders, NTPC was put in place to build and operate the Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric Project (1070 MW) for the first 25 years of its operation. During his mandate, Frédéric was in charge of the completion of the project’s Resettlement Implementation Program.

Frédéric holds a diploma of Engineering from the École Centrale Paris.
