Speaker biography

Ed Wojczynski is an engineer and the principal of EW Sustainable Hydropower Consulting and is currently consulting with Manitoba Hydro International. Until 2015 he was responsible for planning and developing new hydro, gas and wind generation and before that he worked as an energy resource planner.

In addition, Ed was the executive responsible for developing the aboriginal partnership approach for new generation. He also led the consultations for the partnership in the 200 MW Wuskwatim Hydropower project which resulted in the local indigenous community being a 33% co-owner. Similarly, Ed worked on the 695 MW Keeyask Hydropower Project with four indigenous communities.

He chaired the Canadian Hydropower Association and most recently was their Interim President. As a member of the IHA (International Hydropower Association) he actively participated in the development and testing of the Sustainability Assessment Protocol and currently chairs an IHA Experts Group on Indigenous Engagement.
