Divas B. Basnyat coordinates the Water and Climate Programme of the Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI), a policy research think tank in Nepal. He is currently a member of the team preparing the river basin plans and the hydropower master plan of Nepal, funded by the World Bank.
His recent research and professional consulting work has focused on climate resilience of the hydropower and water resources sectors in several countries in Asia and Africa covering various climate regimes. He has carried out climate risk assessment and impact studies using both the conventional top-down approach using global climate data as well as the bottom-up decision scaling approach.
He is particularly interested in applying methodologies that link climate science with practice that meets the needs and capacity of policy makers, engineers, hydrologists, developers and financiers.
