Speaker biography

David L. Harrison is a water resources lawyer in Boulder, Colorado. He is currently retired and of counsel with the firm of Moses, Wittemyer, Harrison and Woodruff, P.C. He is practicing an independent consultancy involving the conservation of rivers and clean energy.

Previously, David worked for 25 years as senior advisor to The Nature Conservancy, Global Freshwater Team. On behalf of TNC, he was a member of the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Forum, and subsequently on the Protocol Governance Committee, which he chaired for four years until 2017.

David was a member of the Board of Governors of The Nature Conservancy from 1980 to 1990, and was a Chairman of the Board during 1988 and 1989.

He is currently focusing on integrated planning of renewable energy in Brazil as a way of minimizing the impacts of hydropower on river ecosystems.

He is a graduate of the University of Colorado, holding degrees in law, and Civil Engineering, Hydraulics.
